Minor Champions 2021
What a win for our Minor girls today. It might have came as a surprise to a few people and to Coralstown/Kinnegad who were strong favourites going into this game but it was no surprise to these girls who’s grit and determination really did shine today. With a strong start from the favourites the half time whistle left us trailing by 2-04. However with the strong wind on our backs Goldsmiths fought back and started the 2nd half strong with a Sinead Seery point followed by a goal from Emma Tumelty. 2 more points and a super goal for Rebecca Higgins and another late goal from Leah Duffy before the 2nd water break saw the scoreline gap narrow. With another 4 points from Cara Fitzpatrick, Emma Tumelty and Sinead Seery, the full-time whistle blew and the game ended in a draw and went into extra time. CKD started strong again and a quick few points we were down again but with superb defence the opposition were kept out and Goldsmiths grew in confidence and pulled away with impressive scores from Lisa Seery, Emma Tumelty, Sinead Seery and a goal from Gemma Guinane. The final score 4:12 to 3:10. A great finish to a long season and a win on a cold December day makes for a great Christmas present. Well done everyone and a big thank you to Tom, Ger and Therese for all their hard work.
